State Sales in 2020 if Adult Use Passes

In November 2016, Arizona, California, Massachusetts, Maine, and Nevada will be voting on adult use cannabis initiatives.  Assuming all five initiatives pass, New Frontier Data & Arcview Market Research project these new adult use markets will add $6.1 billion to the total U.S. market for 2020. California will undoubtedly be the largest adult use market with an expected 2020 sales of $3.9 billion. Nevada will see the largest percentage increase in market size at a 251%, adding $450 million to the projected $180 million medical market. Assuming again these five states all pass adult use measures, the total adult use market in the U.S. would be $10.4 billion, an increase of 141% from Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington’s 2020 projected adult use sales.
