New Frontier Data’s Executive Vice President John Kagia presented our latest findings to a packed house at the Washington, D.C. chapter of Women Grow just one night after the historic Election 2016. Eight out of nine states passed cannabis reform measures, four for adult use, California, Nevada, Maine and Massachusetts, and four for medical cannabis, Florida, North Dakota, Arkansas, and Montana.

Kagia also explored what operators and investors can expect to see in these new markets, the latest trends in the industry, and the explosive numbers coming out of the sector on the sales of concentrates and edibles.

However, the portion of the discussion that was of interest to attendees was the portion of the talk on Arizona and why that measure failed. The lack of funding for the legalization campaign combined with a well-funded, well-coordinated and very aggressive opposition campaign, contributed to the measure’s failure in the historically conservative state.

Attendees were also interested in how legal cannabis might evolve in D.C. which remains an open question given Congress’ continued intervention in the city’s efforts to create a legal, regulated cannabis market. Michelle Rutter from the National Cannabis Industry Association also joined Kagia to speak on the election results and what impact it will have on Congress.

Kagia will also be presenting a more in depth look at these analytics later this week at the Arcview Investor Forum and Marijuana Investor Summit.
