- New Frontier Data analysis found the 2018 global market value of combined legal and illicit cannabis markets to be worth $344.4 billion (USD).
- Of 263 million annual cannabis consumers worldwide, 83 million (32%) live in Africa.
- Africa’s cannabis market value (combined legal and illicit) was $37.3 billion in 2018 — 11% of the $344.4 billion global market.
- On average, 11.4% of Africans aged 15 and older have used cannabis in the past year, almost double the 6.0% global annual-use rate.
