July 26, 2017As Patient Participation Grows, Canadian LPs See Strong Market Opportunities
- In the past two years, the rolls of Canada’s registered patients have grown six-fold, from about 24,000 in June 2015 to nearly 168,000 by March 2017.
- Those patients are being served by the country’s 52 Licensed Producers (LPs), more than half of which (29) are located in the province of Ontario.
- Canada tightly restricts cannabis marketing or advertising, and only allows home delivery of products; nevertheless, sales keep growing steadily.
- With adult use legalization expected to take effect in July 2018, more traditional brick-and-mortar dispensaries are expected to replace the delivery-only approach.
