Women are a key demographic in legal marijuana markets, and the growing number of products specifically aimed at female marijuana consumers reflects the significant market opportunity they represent. Historically, women have consumed marijuana at lower rates than men, accounting for slightly more than one-third of people who consumed marijuana in the past month. Similar proportions are also seen in medical marijuana programs around the country. Even though women may consume marijuana at lower rates than men, their tremendous spending power coupled with their unique preferences and priorities is leading to more companies to target this important but under-served market.
