Since 1990, the percentage of 18 to 30 year old adults who perceive “great risk” in occasionally smoking marijuana has fallen by approximately half.
The decline has been most significant among 18 year olds, 16% of whom view it as a great risk, down from 37% in 1990.
The decline in perceived risk has been mirrored by both increased marijuana use and by surging support for legalization in this age group over the same period.
